Dedicated to ambitious futures
It is part of the vision here at Werneth School that all students have a carefully considered programme of activities to help them make informed decisions about their future pathways. Our aim is to provide students with the guidance and experiences they need in order to make appropriate and informed decisions about careers, employability and personal and economic well being.
It is our mission to ensure they are prepared for life in modern Britain and therefore we are committed to delivering a clear and meaningful careers education programme which offers guidance for all learners in Years 7-11, including vulnerable learners and those with additional needs.
We work closely in partnership with agencies, educational establishments and a variety of industry employers to provide support and opportunity for all learners within our school.

Career Adviser(s)
We work closely with GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) for careers guidance and work related opportunities. Our school’s Career Advisor is Pamela Mason Pamela.Mason@wernethschool.com who delivers one to one career guidance interviews to the majority of our Y11 students where students receive personalised guidance about their post 16 routes.
We are also supported by Hannah Cain, Young People's Education and Careers Advice Worker through Stockport Local Authority. She is available in school on hannah.cain@wernethschool.com to work with priority Year 11 students, identified by the Year 11 pastoral team.
Participation of Young People in Education, Employment or Training
The law now requires all young people in England to continue in education or training until at least their 18th birthday. Statutory guidance published by the Department of Education which explains the legal position can be accessed here.
Measuring the Impact of our Careers Programme
We measure and report the impact of our careers programme in a number of ways.
The school works closely with The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Careers and Enterprise Company in order to audit our CEIAG programme. We collect Year 11 destination data each year so that we can analyse the impact of our work and monitor students' transition to post 16 pathways and reduce the number of students who find themselves to be Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
All the careers events are measured for impact and feedback is taken regularly from participating students, staff and organisations delivering the events. The results help us further develop our careers provision in school.
Parents and carers are also invited to feedback on our careers programme which guides us to plan for future career related work.
