Curriculum Intent

Film Studies explores the world of cinema - both British and global.  We examine the technical construction of films, considering how choices influence how ideas are communicated.  We also consider how film represents the world in which we live, and how this changes over time. We study ways in which films are constructed so as to promote and brand themselves in a commercially competitive environment.  This is in order to develop students’ ability to understand how the films are created to influence our attitudes and behaviour.

Curriculum Features

Students will complete modules in  film language including camera usage, editing and film conventions. Students will have the opportunity to use digital still and video cameras and software such as Corel Paintshop Pro and learn how to write Industry-standard screenplays.
